Program Information
Introduction

The program prepares students for Social Work practice with a clinical specialization, based on the accreditation standards of the Council of Social Work Education (CSWE). The students will be able to contribute with their leadership and guidance to programs and services for vulnerable populations in the United States of America and other societies across the world.

Defining Social Work

Social Work is an applied discipline that promotes equity, social and political justice and the well-being of human and social systems.

Clinical Social Work

Clinical Social Work applies theories and methods in prevention, diagnosis and treatment of individual, family and group conditions.


Curriculum
Program Duration

The program may take from two to four years depending on course load.

Course Modality

Courses are offered Monday through Friday at night and Saturdays during the day.

Supervised Practice
  • Three internships of 300 hours each.
  • Second and third emphasize clinical skills.

Admission Requirements
  1. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.
  2. Minimum GPA of 2.75.
  3. Interview.
  4. Essay.
Advanced Standing Requirements
  • Degree from CSWE accredited program.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.00.
  • Major courses passed with A or B.
  • Field Practice with grade A.
  • Degree completed in last 5 years.

Transfer Policy

AGMU will accept up to 27 transfer credits from CSWE accredited programs.

  • Official transcripts within 45 days.
  • Credits evaluated by Registrar.
  • Final decision by Vice Chancellor Office.
Residency Requirements

Students must complete at least 25% of credits at AGMU.
